Low-power multisensor LoRaWAN IoT system
Explore new ways to observe the environment with a low-power multisensor LoRaWAN prototype for research and experimentation.
Taking observation beyond the power socket
What if we could observe more without relying on a constant mains connection? This project explores a multisensor IoT system based on LoRaWAN and a LilyGO board, focusing on data communication and low-power operation.
Developed as an academic project supporting prototyping and research at the University of Oviedo’s Medialab, it provides a space to experiment with connected devices and telemetry. The code, documentation and designs are shared for educational and research purposes.
A foundation for experimentation
The repository documentation describes the prototype’s assembly, configuration and firmware. It is a starting point for researchers and teams interested in studying long-range telemetry and low-power approaches for connected devices.
Sensor networks can help raise new questions about places and processes: what to measure, where and how often. This prototype offers a concrete foundation for exploring those questions in a lab and designing controlled tests before considering a deployment.
Innovation starts with a measurable hypothesis
No unverified claims are made about battery life, coverage or impact. That is precisely the value of experimentation: measure consumption, test connectivity and document conditions to understand what works and what needs to evolve.
Important
This is an academic prototype, not a product certified for commercial deployment. Any installation should validate hardware, coverage, autonomy, radio regulations and safety for its specific use case.
Have a research question that needs sensors?
I can help explore a prototype and design a validation plan, keeping the distinction clear between an experimental test and a production-ready system.
